Bring people in. Show it worked

Placeboard gives a town’s council, its businesses and its marketing one shared board: a fair route in for events and offers, nothing published without sign-off, a seasonal plan, and a live dashboard measured on visitors.

The problem

Towns have the reasons to visit. The marketing is in pieces.

Most towns already have what visitors want: independent shops, food, green space, events and history. What they lack is one joined-up way to tell people about it. Businesses send news by email and some get heard more than others. Approvals live in long email chains. Reports count followers, because that is what is easy to count.

Placeboard puts it in one place. Every business gets the same route in, the council approves everything before it goes out, the year is planned around the seasons, and the results are measured on who came from outside the town and what they did next.

How it works

Four parts, one board.

01

A fair route in for businesses

Shops, cafés, venues and partners send events, offers, news and listing changes through one simple form. No account needed.

02

The council approves everything

Every request goes to a named officer before it is published. Each approval is logged with who gave it, when, and where it went out.

03

A year planned together

Seasonal campaigns, a content calendar and the documents behind them, in the council’s own project portal.

04

Results the committee can read

A live dashboard and a two-page monthly report: reach outside the town, website visits, clicks through to businesses and how many took part.

Who it is for

Councils and the partners around them.

Town and parish councils, district councils, business improvement districts and destination partnerships: anyone responsible for bringing people into a place and showing that public money did it.

What we hold to

Four rules for public money.

01

Nothing out without sign-off

The council approves every post, campaign and listing before it goes public.

02

Every business treated the same

One route in, the same criteria for everyone, and a record of every decision.

03

Measured on visitors, not likes

The measures are agreed at the start and tied to who came and what they spent.

04

The council keeps everything

Accounts, content, images and data stay the council’s, and can be exported at any time.

Your website

Keep your website, or let us build one.

Most places do not need a new website. Placeboard adds a live What’s On to the one you have with two lines of code, and it is a direct feed: approve something on the board and it appears on your site straight away. If you have no visitor website, we build one with the feed built in.

£995 a year

or £100 a month

For places that already have a website they are happy with.

  • The full board: one route in for businesses, council approvals, the seasonal plan and the dashboard
  • A live What’s On feed on your existing site, added with two lines of code
  • A direct feed: approve once and it appears on your site, with nothing to copy or upload
  • Matched to your colours, and it fits any page width
  • Set up, and your officers trained, within two weeks
